Rwenzori Children’s Support Center

Located in the heart of a rural Ugandan community, the center is truly a home, providing a safe haven for children orphaned by conflict. The dedicated team and extended family of Sisters Uganda have welcomed the children into their families, and they struggle to meet their essential needs every day. Here, they find support, belonging, and the opportunity to grow together, nurturing both a garden and a brighter future full of hope and resilience.

These children need our support.

Where it all began…

A Western Ugandan village was brutally attacked on June 16th, 2023, leaving more than 40 high-school students inhumanely murdered, homes burned, nearly 30 citizens dead or missing, and possibly dozens of orphaned and displaced children. This occurred near the village where Sisters Uganda is located, personally and tragically impacting the team members’ relatives.

The Sisters Uganda community immediately came together to support the area impacted by the attack. They welcomed the children with open hearts, bringing them into the loving embrace of the Sisters in Circles extended family. These children are now cared for and nurtured through the compassionate support of the Rwenzori Children’s Support Center.

Children received new beds and clothing immediately following the attack

In the very beginning, they realized they only had each other, and we decided to help

The morning following the attack in Mpondwe village, Sisters Uganda rushed to prepare food for the community and those tragically affected. The video below shows children who benefitted from their generosity.

“Let us reach out to the children. Let us do whatever we can to support their fight to rise above their pain and suffering.”
